About Me

Pilgrim.  Sinner.  Teacher.  Lover of people.  Partnered up.  Follower of Jesus, Lao Tzu, and Buddha, in that order.   Always looking to enjoy myself.  Require moments of alone time looking at mountains.  Reader of the Bible, Foucault, T.S. Eliot, and Cormac McCarthy.  Fan of Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, and Gustav Mahler.  Working through my sixth decade of wonderment, confusion, terror, and joy.

I teach religion, sociology, and psychology at Southwestern Community College in western North Carolina.  I worked for sixteen years as a United Methodist pastor, and for ten years in the substance abuse field, as a clinician and executive director.

I have earned a BA in religious studies, a Masters of Divinity, a Masters of Philosophy, and a PhD in the Sociology of Knowledge.  I also have published three books of sermons for children, and one on addiction, that are available through Amazon or Barnes and Noble online.

All opinions expressed in this blog are strictly my own.
